aftermarket email programme

can anybody suggest a good aftermarket e-mail programme for a mac running on mountain lion.
i find the current one a bit frustrating. - some of the sent items does not show.
maybe i have a lack of knowledge/skills

If you're in the UK see if you can get hold of MacFormat magazine issue 277 (Sept 2014) as they review six products. They preferred Postbox, closely followed by Airmail and Thunderbird. Others reviewed were Inky, Sparrow and Unibox.

can anybody suggest a good aftermarket e-mail programme for a mac running on mountain lion.

My choice would be Thunderbird. It's easy to setup and get running and free.
