I have used my MacBook pro for over three years. I recently upgraded the OS from 10.8.5 (12F45) to 10.10.1 (14B25). I use an active directory account to login with, until the upgrade I only used wireless connection to reboot and sign-in with my AD account. After the upgrade, the last step was to reboot - my login box appeared and I logged in using my AD account like normal - only the login stopped (on the progress bar it was about 1/3 done). I logged in using the local admin account and updated the mac address in the ethernet settings. I then plugged my ethernet cable and was able to see the login complete. But now, anythime I reboot I need the ethernet... which is problematic as I will only be able to do this at my desk. I've googled and seen a few cases where this happens but none match my exact issue. I've tried rebooting in safe mode - and verified there are no disk issues and re-installed the OS.
