Adware removal

Hello.

I have inadvertently downloaded 'Search Protect' which I believe is adware.

It has the effect of highlighting certain words which show popup ads when rolled over (even on this page).

Deleting and uninstalling it has not worked.

I wondered if anyone can advise me how I might safely remove it from my Macbook Pro drive?

I am not aversed to a full wipe and reinstall if necessary.
