Well I've fallen in love with my Mac, and am going to buy one for school (I'm on a CAD design course).

I'm in a dialemma and was wondering if anyone had advice. In going to New York on Thursday, and Dixons in the Duty Free offer the 15inch MBP (higher spec) at $2851 (£1445), or i can get the 17" MBP in America with Tax for $3040 (£1540). It's only £100 more ($200) but there are other factors to consider, like i will have an American charger, and American Keyboard and OS. From anyones experiance, is the Keyboard much different? and can i reinstall the OS with English Language settings?

Thanks,,

Those prices, in USD, are a little steep. You can get them cheaper through the Apple site.

The highest spec 15'' MBP is $2,499 USD
The 17'' MBP is $2,799 USD

Even with tax, its more than you should be paying......are you adding memory or something like that???

nah thats just the plain spec. Ive added New York Tax on both of the computers which brings them up to the much higher prices.

Apple's power adapter for the MBP has an interchangeable plug that can be replaced by different kinds of international plugs. You just need to order the add-on international adapter kit.

I'm not sure about the keyboard, but would imagine that it would lack a £ key, with a $ in its usual place.

That's the tax rate I used as well. Still too high.

$2,499 + 8.5% tax = $2,711
$2,799 + 8.5% tax = $3,036

The 17'' is actually in line with my calculation, but the 15'' is a bit overpriced.
