Seems that Adobe flash player is shutting down it's connection with You Tube.
Is there an alternative for my MacBook Pro ( 2011, version 10.13.6 ) High Sierra???
I run Safari browser 13.1.2
Any help very much appreciated.

Flash is dead, pal. And not just with regard to YouTube - it's End-of-Life from Adobe, it's creator / owner.

There are alternatives for creation of multimedia content, e.g. based in HTML5 (like Tumult's Hype). But I don't think there's anything out there that will let you continue to view old Flash content.

What Flash content do you have to begin with? If it's websites you visit, most if not all have transitioned away from Flash.

You don't need anything related to Flash since no sites use it or at least shouldn't be any more since Adobe EOL'ed it.

Video Duke is a video downloader and quite a bit different from Flash. Supposedly it can download videos from YouTube and Vimeo. But keep in mind that many of those videos are locked and will not allow downloading. Besides all that, it's not free. $19.95 US and you might also have to pay Australian tax.

@bluecheer - let's take a step back. What are you trying to do? We went off on a Flash tangent because that's how you began this thread, but it seems you're interested in downloading files from YouTube?

If that's the case, check out the excellent ClipGrab

I'm still encountering some Web sites that still use Flash. At least one of the major news networks requires Flash to view the videos on their Web site.

In addition, several Macintosh applications at least used to require Flash. I don't know how many of them have been updated to no longer require Flash, but if you have any of them you might want to check before uninstalling Flash:

Adobe Creative Suite
Charles Schwab investment's "Street Smart" software
Callpod Keeper
Stanza
GraphicConverter
Evernote
Minecraft
Runescape
the Mac version of the online backup service CrashPlan
FreeMind
XmindGantt
Vuze
PolarBar Mailer
Dreamweaver

I've found that Microsoft edge has a built-in flash drive that will play everything adobe flash was.

Just for your info:

Microsoft Edge is built on the Chromium engine which has built in Flash. Chrome and Brave, both have Flash built in.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm currently using Chrome 88 but do not visit or use sites that operate or need Flash.
