Adjusting TouchPad on Mac Pro

I am new to Mac and need tips on how to turn down the sensitivity of the touchpad. I have a disability which affects my coordination, so I need the touchpad to do only minimal things, such as left click and moving the cursor around the screen. I did do some adjustments and it is better, but the touchpad sometimes still wants to click on something when that is not what I want to do. Any ideas will be greatly welcome. Thank you!
