AdJuggler is killing the site

When the rotator.juggler javascript fires off, the page stops loading while it waits for the javascript to draw the ad. Not a big deal, it's usually pretty instant.

But sometimes the rotator.juggler server chokes. So the forum page is blank while it waits to time out. See attached.

A fix is to place the ad in an iframe. So the forum page can load instantly even if the rotator.juggler is hung up. Even if it times out entirely, the forum page loads and renders just fine.
A simpler fix is to get rid of the javascript and just use the IMG tag instead.

I've seen this problem with phpMyAds also.

The page is waiting for the javascript to load, not the image. Does adblocker block the whole javascipt or just the image?

I have found that if you refresh the page, it usually works fine after that.

I'm having this problem again, too ... it's taking 5+ minutes to load a single page. No way one can actually read the forum like that.

Hmmm that's weird - the site is loading just fine for me... are you sure it's adjuggler?

Apt, usually this will last about 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes a bit longer and it's a regular pain to navigate in the various forums. It can easily take a page 3 minutes to load entirely. I get so annoyed I stop the loading and the page is mostly there and functional, but sometimes the icons for threads or sub-forums aren't loaded yet and the links don't work.

So if you missed it, be very glad. :spook:

I get that too. But if you hit the 'X' in Safari and stop the page from loading, and then hit the refresh button twice, the page will load.... at least it does for me.

I've tried stop-and-refresh. That doesn't work if the adjuggler server is unreachable.

Yep I just went through a AdJugglerism myself. I am trying at the moment, at a friend's suggestion, SafariBlock.

It's weird I updated my Firefox so had to use Safari for a day and the amount of ads on my favourite sites was unbelievable! I'm so glad to have it back now!
