Adding an address to Address Book

Hi Guys
Just started using the email on my new MacBook, and am stuck on Adding Address To Address Book within the email, the help does say after addressing an email click the "SMART ADDRESS ARROW" by the address, but what is the Smart arrow and where is it?
Im probably being a bit stupid here but would love any help.
