Hello all,
First post of hopefully many, I am currently typing this message on a windows based PC however come August and the results of my GCSE's (which i hope will be good) I intend to purchase an apple. My questions quite plainly are:

1.The new apple laptops that have just been released look godd but as I will be buying in August what i want to know is can I expect any newer models to come out shortly after this i.e. whats the sorta newness of these things.

2.Will Lepoard really be "IT" and will there be much point in holding off on my purchase to get Leopard or will it be an easy (inexpensive:Smirk: ) upgrade??

3.It is easy to convert from windows??

4.Really just 1+2 comprised but if i was to say i dont mind not purchasing untill around Christmas can i expect any new models with must have features that are not currently present??

P.S. As has laready been mentioned this is my first post here and unfortunatly as i get more comfortable here my grammer will slacken n der wil b mre txt tlk lol. :D

Hello!

I'll try and answer your questions.

1. No one knows but apple when they will release products. If you buy one of the newest macbooks you'll have a great computer no matter what apple releases after that. There isn't to much more they can do to the mackbook, except give it a fast processor and a bigger hard drive.

2. Leopard will be cool, but far from "It". It cost $120 to upgrade to leopard.

3. It's easy to switch from windows, as long as you know how to use a computer and are willing to learn a new operating system. If you don't think that you will love your mac, in my opinion it will become your worst nightmare. It all depends on you.

4. I don't think there will be anything to major until apple releases a new computer.

There are always rumors of new kit coming from Apple, but truth be told, no one can say when they'll release something new.

If anything is going to happen, then I don't think it will be till around October when Leopard is released.

Switching from Windows to OS X is very easy, there maybe a couple of things you're not sure about, but thats what we (@ Mac-Forums) are here for :)

I think Leopard will be the best OS available when it's released. If the release date was anytime soon then I'd say wait for it (If you don't need a Mac at the minute). BUT waiting till October - seems like a long wait to me, I'd rather get a Mac or MacBook now and get used to an OS with a fairly large userbase to whom you can turn if you get stuck. Then buy Leopard when you have the cash to do so if you think it can offer you more.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the release. Don't know if I'll buy it straight away, I might wait till end of Novemebr and buy it as a birthday gift for myself :) - There are some features in Leopard that I think will be very cool.
