I have a feeling the reason apple is only carrying dual g5 powermacs now is since they are redesigning the imacs, it makes sence since that will be the new single g5 system. Looking at the history, apple came out with single g5 systems since the imac was not ready for such an upgrade, and that would of thrown the price over. But now it seems weird that you can only buy a powermac in a dual cpu format, possibly meaning they are going to start offering a newer system, the imac with the g5.

Obviously everyone has been saying g5 imacs for the past few months, but now it seems more apparent in what apple may be doing.

If heat is really an issue, then I don't see the G5 iMac as of yet. What I see is a redesign of case preparing for the G5 chip. If you look at when the iMac went from a G3 to G4 there was no change in the case design.

i think the g5 does a great job of heat and i think apple can easily put a g5 in the current imac with some tinkering. i would expect apple though to redisign the imac though since it would be to the g5s advantage.

it may be even possible since powermacs are dabbling with watercooling, they may be able to put that in the imac with a g5 which will be quiet but yet very cold. apple, is good, they know what they are doing, i am sure we will not be disappointed.

Yeah I am sure a new design G5 iMac is going to be what is released :)
