I think therefore I don't use Vista.

Ghods, all these years I was a Windows user, I hope I was not as pig ignorant as the *******s I find defending the Microsoft FUD machine.
I wonder how many egos are wrapped up in the "I have a real computer" mentality? The idea that you should HAVE to know more about your computer to keep it running is flatly insane. Its not a niche device anymore, you would not accept that for a moment in an automobile.
I'm old, when I started in home computers you had to LOVE them, they did noting and cost a lot. Now people want a computer to be as easy to operate as the idiot box, turn it on, turn it off, end of story.
But in the end the geeks "and I include myself in this" will lose, ultimately for the same reasons we brag. Yes, a skilled computer user can keep a PC clean and functional. Thats true. I do it myself. This sadly, is meaningless. The vast majority of computer users are pig ignorant of how their computers actually work in both the Mac AND PC worlds. And they really don't care to learn.
And in the end the market forces will support computers that can be worked and kept functional by the computer illiterate, because thats where the MONEY is.
The people who WILL win will be the people who build computers usable for "Joe and Jane Six Pack", who right now are getting very sick of PCs that disintegrate in a year without competent care. They drag their crap to Geek squad and hope it comes back better than when they dropped it off. It usually does not.
I repair a lot of these for neighbors. I can undercut geek squad quite a bit.
Mac sales up %44 from last year and the curve isn't even slowing down, the Mac share of the laptop Market is ever expanding, A few years ago if I saw a MacBook in a hotspot it was a novelty, Now its common. In some places the PC is the odd computer out. Microsoft will be the big boy for a long time to come, but its day in the sun as Microsoft=computer is over with. Vista's dismal sales to upgraders alone shows that. "most of their very inflated numbers on Vista sales are driven by OEM installs" As does the fact that major PC builders are finally wiling do go against Microsoft for alternatives.
As for me, I didn't buy a Mac because "everyones doing it" like they say, I bought it as I got tired of the fact that with Microsoft I was spending more and more time every day making my computer run right, Now I don't have to my computer simply DOES run right
I think its funny we are derided as "sheep" with a ten percent market share, if we are the "followers" we should be the majority.
The followers are the people buying substandard computers, and inferior and insecure operating systems because "Microsoft rules". Or my favorite one "Microsoft must be the best, it has the Biggest market share! "
I always loved that one, and McDonald's sells the most hamburgers so it must make the best food in the world too! Faulty Logic.
Time will tell, I know computers and I know what works. And I know what's secure.
Lastly I won't support any company that controls, what I can and cannot do with my computer, I run what I want I patch what I want, and I update when I want. And I won't replace my hardware because the RIAA and the MPAA want my operating system geared to their needs instead of mine. When they buy me a free computer we can talk about what THEY want.
The sheep are the ones who will buy anything no matter how faulty it is, and just make excuses for it, a lot like the present American Presidents remaining fans........
He had the top market share a few years ago as well. Think about it.
