a few questions about my new computer

i transfered over the files from my pb, so a few settings x-fered over as well.

How do i get rid of the battery icon on the top? Same for the BT and Airport Icons? And, when i log in, it asks for my user name and pw and says mike's pb g4, anyone know how to get rid of that? thanks!

Hold down the "Apple" key, click and hold on the icon, and drag away from the menu bar, let go of the mouse or trackpad, and puff, it's gone.

Well, aren't you glad you posted first. The icons would have just appeared again after a reformat, I think.

wow this thing is SOO much faster than my powerbook, its insane. The system boots up in literally 7-10 seconds, applications start as soon as you click them, its amazing.. For one example: I unprotected my home folder on my powermac and it took 8 minutes. I did the same thing on my powerbook (same folder), it took 67 minutes!

Is it necessary for the apple key to be depressed? I can just click and drag the icon off and it disappears in the same way?

Timing of letting go of the command key doesn't matter, just as long as you press it. I just didn't feel that I needed to go into that much detail.

You can also simply uncheck a couple of boxes in your System Preferences. Just uncheck one under Energy Saver for the battery and one under Network for the AirPort.
