I am thinking of purchasing a 20gb ipod. I have a few questions before I make up my mind. First, I am going to be using it with a windows computer. Now, I know that isn't a problem but I am probably going to get a ibook in a year or so and I want to know if I could use the ipod to take all the music from my current machine and put it on the ibook? Also, can I use the ipod as a mobile hard drive type thing? Meaning, would I be able to put programs on it to bring over to a friends house and put them on his computer? Do the new 20gb ipod's come with docks? I have one more question, I know that is arranges the songs in a few different ways but is date that the song was made one of them?

With your help I may own an ipod by tonight.

I forgot a question. Have you ever noticed how loud most cd players are? Well, when I got my first mp3 player I was dissapointed in the volume level. I would say it was 1/4 the volume of the average cd player. Is this the case with the ipod? Do you ever wish it could go louder?

My iPod gets loud enough to where I can't hear outside noise :D I use a pair of Sony in-ear buds though instead of the stock buds. You can easily use the iPod as an external drive with the right software. Try ipodlounge.com, lots of useful info there!

Well, I bought one. I also bought a temporary case until my iskin evo2 comes in the mail. I had it out for 2 hours and had like 4 small scratches on it. I cant imagine what is would be after a week of real use that it will be until my iskin case comes so I had to settle on a case locally until it comes. Thanks for all the help btw. If anyone is thinking of buying an ipod and wants to know about the volume level, I have never turned it all the way up. I can't imagine even going half way up once I get my in-ear headphones.

Congrats! :D Yeah, might as well forget trying to keep it scratch-free lol. I gave up on that after a few days.
