Hi folks!
First I'd like to say hello, this is my first post on the forums. I've lurked for a little while but am now seriously considering buying my first Apple computer! All I've ever owned are iPods and an iPhone, but I want a Macbook.

I was wondering if $650 would be a good price for a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo white macbook with 1gb of ram and a dvd/cd-rw drive and 60gb hard drive, and it's got bluetooth. The seller also has all the original boxing and stuff, but no AppleCare. He said its a late 2006 model in very good condition.

I'd appreciate any advice, I might not have much time before this guy sells so thanks in advance to anyones opinions!

I would say it is a little high, Student ipod promotion ends tomorrow, lowest macbook is $999 and you get a free touch and a free printer. Sell the touch and printer and you are not too far off from the $650 he wants considering you are getting the latest and greatest.

I'd really prefer to not have to front that money and rely on selling the freebies. Not a bad idea though.

I think it is pretty reasonable. You may be able to find something better though. It is pretty cheap and easy to upgrade the RAM and HD in MacBooks which is something I would want to do.

I looked and found a 1gb stick for $20 so that was great. 2gb will be much better.

Yes, but you'll probably need to buy 2gb total. I would imagine the Macbook you're looking at has 2x512mb in it, so you'll have to replace those completely.

The older models max out at 2gb as well, I think.

I asked the seller, it has 1x 1GB stick, so the 1gb stick i bought will be just fine I believe.
