32GB thumb drive. Apparently empty, but only half available.

Capacity: 32.33 GB. Deleted all files and Finder shows no entries. Info still shows only 18.59 GB available. What am I missing?

Was it partitioned? Did you try erasing & reformatting it?

Did you empty the trash? Files don't actually get deleted until you empty the trash.

And by "empty the trash," MacInWin means emptying the trash **with the flash drive mounted**.

No, it wasn't partitioned, and I didn't try erasing and reformatting; but it doesn't make any difference. Emptying the trash took care of the problem very nicely, thank you.

Same as Windows with an external drive or a thumb drive, leave attached and mounted when emptying Trash otherwise just reverts.
