firstly hi to every one
i swapped my HDD for a 2tb firecuda expecting great things. all went well and it was faster BUT the fan ran continuously. so a little research and i discover the temps for the fan modulation are taken directly from the HDD. I have now got a cable on the way from OWC. but during my investigations i have discovered that SSDs are a lot more affordable than when i planned this. Then i am wondering, 1 if the firecuda will ever work properly? and 2 could i fit 2 x2.5 drives in one carrier? and fusion them? has any one done this?

The spinning disk will not match the speed of the SSD. And with the temp sensor, the HDD will work fine since the iMac will get the information it needs to keep the fans in check.

I'm not sure there is enough space to squash two drives into the same carrier and you cannot fusion them yourself, that whole thing is a mess anyway.

If you are going to do the upgrade that makes this iMac better for a few more years, I would recommend just the SSD upgrade.

I agree. SSD. Dismiss any intention of Fusion.
