I recently was given a 2011 15” Macbook Pro i7 with a failed GPU but it’s in excellent shape cosmetically. I also acquired a 2010 15” Macbook Pro i5 that is cosmetically not good. I did check to make sure it powered on and worked. I decided to put the logic board from the 2010 into the 2011. (I know that doesn’t make sense but I can’t afford to get a 2012 logic board right now.) The only thing is I left the 2011 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card in the 2011 casing and used it with the 2010 logic board. I got the 2011 MacBook Pro with the 2010 logic board in it to start up after doing a SMC and PRAM reset. It has high sierra installed on it. It works fine up until it is on safari or any other browsing program. It restarts automatically and it says “ Your computer restarted due to an error”. So I’m not sure what’s going on. I don’t remember if I checked to see if it was okay while on the internet before I took the logic board out of the 2010 casing. I was thinking of putting back the logic board in to the 2010 casing and seeing if it does the same thing. I also turned off the Wi-Fi and hooked up to an Ethernet cable and it still did the restart thing while trying to browse the internet. So it doesn’t seem to be the 2011 Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth card causing this issue. If worse comes to worse I will pick up a 2012 logic board later on if I can’t resolve this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
