I am new to the world of mac but and had 1 mac specific question and one general question regarding video storage.

Question 1 -

For editing HD video, will a 27in imac with the ATI Radeon be sufficient? I saw another post refer to additional RAM but I was informed by another source that mac's are a processor based system and rely almost exclusively on the processor for the production rather than the RAM.

Question 2 -

I will be going on vacation and will not be abel to bring a laptop with me. Are there any devices available today that would allow me to save info from a SD memory card without hooking it into a computer? (ex. an external hard drive) I looked all over for the answer but came up with nothing.

Considering that iMacs have been editing HD footage using iMovie and other apps since 2006, I'd say yes.

That source is a misinformed source. Apple actually PIONEERED the offloading of "processor" tasks onto the graphics card years ago through a technique called "Quartz 2D Extreme," now aped by everybody in the industry.

Yes. Devices exist that will enable this on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad (when the iPad is available).

A Google search of "hard drive with SD card reader" turned up tons of other options.
