I know this question has been asked alot and yes I did use the search function, but couldn't find an answer that fit me exactly. So here it goes. I am turning 16 soon, and going into my junior year of highschool (i screwed up the age when i signed up here so don't rely on my profile), and frankly, my dell dimension desktop is crap. Slow, clunky, can barely handle 2 open programs at a time, well, you get the picture. So now I am switching to mac and getting a laptop. Why not macbook? Well, if the Macbook was made with a 15" monitor, i would get it and just up the HD and RAM. So I've decided to get a MBP. For those of you who think I am spoiled rotten, I will be paying my mom roughly 200 dollars a month for a year to pay this puppy off; I hope it is worth it. My main need is that this computer is fast. Really fast. Like i dont want to have to wait for programs to "catch-up." What will I be doing with it? HEAVY internet use, moderate photo and video editing, though nothing professional, watching movies, and occasionally playing games. So, what should I get?

What kind of games will you be playing? The reason I ask is because the 2.2 model comes with a 128 MB video card while the 2.4 comes with a 256 MB card. This could make a difference if you're playing some more high end games.

If you're not playing very graphic intensive games or don't mind less frames per second then I would go with the 2.2 model.

Go for whichever model that suits your budget and need. I bought the 2.4ghz model just because they didn't have the 2.2ghz in stock. All MBPs are great machines, so go ahead and pick one up.

Still, those are little facts that makes the 2.4ghz model the "high-end" or "top-of-the-line". It's a marketing technique to differentiate the products for different types of consumer.

The most graphic intense game I would play would be compared with Battlefield 2. Other than games though, is the 2.4 THAT much notably faster?

i'd say so to a certain extent. because in the case for the 2.4 model, the vram is 2x more than that of the 2.2 model.

Porn?

Oh, back on topic. I have always found that buying the biggest/fastest you can afford when you initially invest your money is the way to go. You'll get the most life out of it. My last laptop (powebook G3 w/ bronze keyboard) lasted for 6 years, before I gave it to my mum and bought myself a new MBP.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do with my new MBP, keeping it for at least 4-5 years. My MBP is the most expensive laptop I've ever owned. This is why I've invested loads of money on protective gear and AppleCare.

P.S. I do watch porn on my MBP, try XTUBE (it can be better than YouTube;D )

it doesn't hurt to check the game's website for system requirement.
