15" 2ghz macbook pro shutting off intermittently

Hi

I have a 2ghz 15" macbook pro. It only turns on when holding the power button/option/control keys. Also, it turns off every 5-10 minutes. I tried sticking some other ram in, but then the screen wouldnt turn on.

Is this a logic board issue, or a ram issue, or something else ?

Be more specific. How old is the MBP. What OS is it running?

well its the 2ghz macbook pro 15" so i think it is from 2006. it is running 10.5.8
