Hi Guys,

I hope you can help. I have just come by an old 12" Mac Powerbook which initially had the original software 10.3.2. Ive upgraded the OS to Tiger and its running like a dream, very happy with it. Accessing the net via an ethernet cable at the moment.

Can anyone provide a definitive answer on what Airport Card I will need? I have already looked on the net for advice, which turned out to be the wrong advice. Hence I'm now sitting with 2 Aitrport cards that do not fit the 12" Powerbook.

Can anyone help before I start to build an Airport Card mountain of usless airport cards!

Cheers

Chris

It would REALY REALLY help if you told us what model 12" Powerbook you have...but more than likely...this is the airport card you need:

Hi, it's the aluminium series. The above picture looks like the one I already bought and doesn't fit. I'm thinking that as it doesn't fit it maybe for the 15". I've seen this one on eBay. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Would this be the one I need?

Thanks for advice!

Hi, it's the aluminium series.

Like I ALREADY mentioned...need to know EXACTLY which 12" Powerbook you have. There were 4 different 12" Aluminum Powerbooks.

The above picture looks like the one I already bought and doesn't fit. I'm thinking that as it doesn't fit it maybe for the 15". I've seen this one on eBay. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Would this be the one I need?

How is the Airport card in the e-Bay link any different than the photo of the one I mentioned earlier???...they're EXACTLY the same card!!!

Let me let you in on a little secret...Apple only made two different "user installable" Airport cards (photos below). Unless you are misidentifying which Powerbook you have...ALL the 12" Powerbooks used the "Airport Extreme" card pictured earlier in this thread.

If you have a 12" Powerbook, and you have the "Airport Extreme" card pictured above (and below)...and you cannot get it to fit...I suspect "user error" inserting the card is the issue!;)

It probably is user error, but the airport card will not fully insert, it's so far and I don't want to force it. It's sticking out about a 1mm, and certainly will not allow the airport door to shut. Any ideas?

SORRY, user error! I've got it fitted! Thanks!

That's ok!;) Sometimes you have to give it a firm "push" to get the card to seat fully/properly.

Great to hear that you got it in, I hope it's working properly...and thanks a ton for the update!:)
