Going to buy an iMac and started thinking about some interesting, but relevent, uses for my

17" Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, 80Gb HD Gateway

and came up with some really boring ways to use it.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

Maybe wipe the HD and run . . . Music and Photos only?

Keep them off my new iMac.

Or, possibly an external HD.

Sell it on ebay. There's no use holding onto it if you don't want it or need it.

Sooper Fast!
Put two 500gb hard drives in it and run it as a server with 1tb of storage.

I can do that?

It's a laptop though, that would be intensly pricey.

I know those words, but that sign makes no sense.

Hey Bill_Gates, cool Yahoo Serious Avatar!

Hey thanks dude!

I think it's important we all learn the story of Albert Einstein... Young Einstein is a triumph of cinematic factuality. ;D

To the OP, I still say load Linux on it... if you are new to Linux it's almost like a whole new computer! And you can tweak away with out worrying about losing you important files that will live on your iMac. It's nice to have a desktop and a laptop... so I'd hold onto it for sure!

...or sell it and buy a macbook :)

80Gb? Go get a firewire enclosure for 2.5" laptop hard drives, take the HD out and put it in the enclosure. Attach to new iMac to use as external drive, for, say, movies and music etc.

Or just keep it around as a backup computer if anything happens to your iMac. That's pretty much what I do with old/acquired laptops. Never know what might happen.

Or you could do something CONstructive instead of DEstructive with and sell it or donate it.
