is there a way to change the synth sound on boot up?maybe from the terminal..

Change the sound? In what way? Make it louder, make it softer, turn it off all together?

There are several utilities that can control the sound. You can find them by doing a google search.

And newer models do not have the boot sound at all.

thats not a solution. I cant believe Apple doesnt have a setting for it , really strange.I want to change the sound to a more attractive
sound....In LInux you can go into the code and change it...is there a way to get into the Mac code on the terminal?

No way to change the sound to a more attractive sound or melody. It's either on or off.
