Any time I want to change to another site an annoying pop up that wants me to join Adobe Flash Player. How do I get rid of that? I am on an iMac desktop running OS 10.14.2. (Mojave)

You do not say what your browser is which would be helpful. Ghostery is a browser extension that will help prevent popups. I use it in Chrome and in Safari it is called Ghostery Lite.

Try adding Ghostery lite as an extension to Safari. Open Safari -> Safari Extensions -> Search for Ghostery. Let it install and accept the default settings. It will prompt you to enable it which means you will have to select it in the extensions panel that should open but if not you can find it under Safari -> Preferences -> Extensions.

Let us know if that works for you. If not I can make other suggestions. It also might be a good idea to clear your history. Safari -> Clear history.

You would have the issue with any browser. Safari works fine just add the extension.
If that does not help let us know. ;D

Now I have another problem Lisa. When I try to buy Ghostery Lite the App Store wants me to sign in BUT the Apple ID is for my previous address. How do I change that?

Just type over it with your AppleID. If that old AppleID is logged in, you can sign out from the Store button on the top menu. Then log in with the new AppleID. Just out of curiosity, why two? Normally that's not a good idea as software licensing (and updates) is tied to the AppleID.

I took that to mean you had two AppleID accounts and that one was a "previous" address. If that's not the case, maybe you better give us a lot more detail on what exactly is going on. And the Store button I meant is gotten to by clicking on the , upper left corner, then App Store. On the top bar, there is a menu item "Store" that has an option to "Sign out." That's what I meant. Sign out of whatever account you don't want and sign in to whatever account you do want.

I have no idea what you mean by
the "store" button won't let me sign out to get rid of the old email address.
So, as I said, give us exactly what you are seeing and trying to do, with all the messages, prompts, actions. Remember, we cannot see your system, so you have to tell us as if we were blind.

When you reply, on the icon bar just above where you enter is an icon that looks like a picture.

2018-12-15 09.19.09 pm.png

Click on that icon and a window will pop up. Click on From Computer and another will show. Click Choose File and a finder window will open. Find the image you want to load and select it, then click on the "Choose" at the bottom of the finder window. You will see in the place where you reply an html code to attach a file with a number between the html flags. That's your loaded image. Now if you just click Post Quick Reply, you'll post the picture. If you want to see it first, then click "Go Advanced" and a preview of the post will be visible to you.

BTW, If you are trying to post the popup windows, that's of no use to us. It doesn't matter what popup you want to block. What we are trying to get to is the App store to install a blocker that will block ALL popups. From the names in the post where you listed your own system locations it looks like that's what you are trying to do, at least by the filenames.

Yes, what Jake said. Ghostery is free but you do need an apple id to download it from the apple store. To see what apple id is signed into the apple store open the app store and on the left side at the bottom will be - hopefully - your name. Click on it and then select View Information. That will show what email is being used and also offer some help for retrieving your password.

I would suggest avoiding any site other than Abobe's that's suggestion you , I assume, download Adobe Flash Player. Probably a 100% guarantee it's full of malware.

If you need or use Adobe Flash Player, or need an update, check it out here:

Jake,
Thanks for your help so far. When I tried to buy the Ghostery Lite download I found that I have another problem. Apparently I have 2 Facebppk accounts. one for my old address and another for where I live now. So my next job is to delete the old Facebook account.

Patrick,
I keep getting a pop up (one of 3) wanting me to download Adobe Flash Player. I'm not sure I need it, but will use the URL you gave me to try it. Thanks.

Not sure what Facebook would have to do with an App store download.
