Ive been in I.T. for over 25 years now, and have seen the evolution of windows throughout the years. I have heavy experience with Windows and Android and delve into Linux in the early 2000s. Although Ive touched a few Macs in my day they always remained somewhat of a mystery and in the shadows of my career. Until one day recently I decided to get an Iphone. I was blown away at this thing of beauty! So what came next was of course an Ipad, then an Apple watch. ( Replacing all of my Android devices). I was hooked on Apple. I started playing around a bit with an Imac that I had at my disposal at work. I was pleasantly surprised to find the command line was so much like Linux. I was also impressed on how easy things are to setup and how everything just works! So now I have purchased a Macbook Pro 15" from Apple's refurb site. I cannot wait until it arrives! So with all of that I figured I had better join some sort of forum out there to learn all I can.. So here I am

Welcome to the Forum John. I've had my first Mac for a little over 2 years now and this forum is a great place for information about Apple Products. I've learned a lot here :)

Well its been almost a month now and Ive tried to make my MacBook my computing home. I have done everything on the Mac that I used to on the PC. Not only can I do everything, I can do it all better. In a nutshell the best way I know how to explain it is that Mac is smoother than a PC, at least that has been my experience. There are a few things that one has to really think differently about when going from PC to Mac, but I have yet to find something that I cannot do using my Mac. I love how Mac just works, everything just comes together so easily. I must admit I'm still a little lost but I'm learning. Im on Windows all day long at work, but can't wait to come home to my Mac :) Thank you all for the warm welcome. Im really loving the switch!

John, excellent analysis and summary. I think what you are describing was what Steve Jobs meant by, "It just works." Not that it works perfectly, but that as you say, everything comes together easily. The ecosystem of macOS, iOS, tvOS makes interfacing pretty easy.

And if you do hit a snag, do visit and ask questions. We have some pretty experienced users here.
