You don't need to faff around like this in windows, its much easier there. You can drag an object from the desktop over the icon of your chosen program on the toolbar and it will let you chose which window you want to drop it on to.

On the mac you have to mess around getting a single window that is not maximised so you can drag objects onto it.

Not sure if you're saying this does what you were asking about in the first post. If so, I don't understand.

I've found a solution that more or less does what I need..

Press:
[option]+[command]+[H]+[M] and this minimises all windows
You can set a Hot Corner to do that with the mouse, or an F key, and not have to hit all those keys.

And even AppleScript and/or Automator comes to mind and then set a keyboard shortcut to trigger it if desired, or maybe even just a voice command.

Just a few alternative choices the Mac has available already it seems. :Mischievous:

F11 on my Mac is set to Show Desktop. All open windows (on the current Desktop) are minimized. You can then select one from the Dock. You set up the F keys in the System Preferences / Mission Control pane. That's also where you can assign Hot Corners.

Also, Option-Click on the toolbar of Apple Mail closes all open Mail windows! Just a click only closes the one I clicked.

How 'bout them Apples, Sir Harvey?!

But, I haven't found a way to "Close Other Windows" in one step.
