I turned on my macbook pro (newest edition, the one with the touchbar, however you tell them apart) today only to find its fans are on full blast, and the keyboard is like, literally dented, or warped? in the lower middle like someone slammed their fist on it. The B key is cracked and the spacebar only works if I'm all but slamming it. I have no idea what is going on. No one uses the laptop but me so no one broke it, and it's just so absurd i'm scared apple tech won't believe I didn't break it(aka, i cant use the warranty for free repair because its absolutely not a user error or user induced damage, but its so bizarre i dont think they'll believe it wasn't me) To make matters worse it's actually my moms, as she loaned it to me for my college classes until I get my own, and i wont be able to go pay for repair without telling her. What can I do? thanks for any help in advance :(

You can make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple. It sounds like there is an issue with the battery. Other batteries have done this before. Don't wait, it could turn dangerous.

If this is true...then it very likely could still be covered under the Applecare warranty.

Not sure what it looks like. But if it looks like an elephant was sitting on it...still might as well let Apple look at it. Even if they don;t believe you...at least you tried.:)

I wonder if that crack on the keyboard was caused by a heavy load of books in your backpack that were resting up against or on top of your MacBook Pro? We have seen this before and so has Apple. A swollen battery will not cause that type of damage and I'm betting that Apple will not repair it for free under the warranty. It might be a good time to be especially nice to Mom. ;D
