hi i'm having real trouble adding another yahoo mail account to apple mail. I go to

Add account >click the yahoo option>continue and then there are only three options. I add name, ID and password (the password is correct because i can close and log in to my yahoo account through safari so i know it's fine) i then click 'set up' and i get the error message 'unable to verify account name or password.

Most forums assume that from that window you can access the server details but that's as far as i get.

I've been trying everything. Deleting the old account was where i started and where this mess started. I have Deleted keychain passwords, i've changed my password about 4 times. used numbers and lower case instead of upper case and kept the password to under 10 characters. Tried everything. Is it a mail thing? Is it a yahoo thing? i can't figure it out.

Any help would really be appreciated. I have Yosemite if that's anything to go by. Thanks....

I found this page for doing a manual setup for yahoo. You might need to set the account up manually although I am not sure why. But it can't hurt to try.

I certainly can't be certain about this, but I think the problem might relate to the fact that Yahoo much prefers IMAP accounts and the method of setting these up varies from that of a POP3 account.

I recently had this difficulty with my BT-Yahoo account when I changed my password (Yahoo hacking scandal) - I live in the UK.

Here are two links which I found helpful, but I cannot guarantee that applies to you:Blushing:

hi ok so i've tried both these ideas. Do you think that the server address should be a .com when i live in the uk? Sorry i'm not very techy.
Also i'm with virgin media, does that have an affect do you think?
Some seem to say to use POP and some IMAP servers too?

tried so many things and so many websites.
