I have an iMac retina 27 inch late 2014, 4ghz core i7, 24gb ram 1600nhz ddrs and a amd radion r9 m290x running el capitan 10.11.5. With an external pioneer blu ray writer (bdr-xdo5tb) as well as a synology nas ds212j (with dnla) and the 4th gen apple tv 32gb. My TV is an older (non smart / no dnla) 37inch Panasonic 1080p LCD.

I have boxes of old DVDs and a number of newer blu-rays. I wish to digitise my dvd/blu-ray collection preferably (but not deal breaker) place them on my NAS (space on my local SSD is an issue) and watch them via my apple tv?

I am aware (albeit vaguely) that apple TV now has apps for Plex / VLC / Synology.

I would be grateful of the simplest method of uploading and viewing my old physical media.

Most importantly as I am not that technical the simplest methods are the most valuable also picture quality is very important to me.

Don't mind buying software if needs be.

THANK YOU very much in advance.

Richard

In order to do that, you'd need to defeat the protection mechanisms inherent to DVD and Blu-Ray. This process is known as "ripping" and is technically illegal in the US, even for discs you own. Since we don't discuss illegal activity on this forum, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. Thanks for understanding.
