Good morning --

Moved some folders from mhy old Mac to my new Mac Mini.

Now, every time I want to change even the number of one of the transferred files I get the "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password o tallow this" message. Is there any to avoid this? Reallytime consuming and annoying.

Thanks,

bmahin

The ownership of the files are likely wrong. How did you move the folders? Where they owned by a different used on your old Mac than your current Mac Mini?

You can click on the file and hit CMD+i and then look at the permissions section at the bottom to see what's going on..

Hi RazOrEdge --

Accordikng to CMD + I, I'm the owner in both instances (which is the case, and the older Mac they came from was mine, also.

Did the transfer via a flash drive.

Thanks for responding.

If the flash drive was formatted for FAT32 or FAT, then permissions were lost. But if it was formatted for OS X, they were preserved, and that could be the challenge here. "You" on the old machine is not "You" on the new machine. The system sees that as two different accounts, hence the requirement to enter passwords as an admin to make changes.

Thanks to both Jake and RazOrEdge --

Now knowing that "you" didn't equal "you", went into info > permissions, unlocked access and "apply to enclosed items."

Problem, solved.

Thanks so much.
