Could someone tell me how to do a hardware test on my iMac? Applecare walked me through it once when I first got the iMac back in January but I have forgotten. There was also an area where you clean up permissions that they walked me through. They said to do this every so often but I was new and have forgotten that also. Thanks for your help!

I have never ran a hardware test. But i believe that you will need to boot off the CD/DVD media to do the test. As for repairing permissions. Just move to the application then utilities folder. Then excute the disk utility application. When it comes up select your system disk and click the repair permissions button.

I normally repair permissions after I install any software on my system.
