Sound and brightness keys not working

ahhhh! that was so simple!!! thankyou so much haha,

I have checked and unchecked the box. but my my sound and the brightness keys are not working.
Any suggestions to make them work without going to the technician?

Sound and Brightness Keys are not working

Hello,

The sound and the brightness keys on my MacBook are not working.

When I check the box in System preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > "Use all F1 F2...", it works fins as "F" button but if I uncheck, these are not working.

Wondering whats wrong !. Could you please advise?

what happens if you hold "fn" while pressing them?

With the box unchecked, pressing the fn key and the F12 key, I can see all the widgets.

fn+F11 key - the active window moves aside.

Fn+f1 and Fn+f2 key does not show any activity.
