My old PC was a HP Media Center and I recorded the Live 8 concert on it. I want to burn specifically the Pink Floyd section of the recorded program to a DVD for my boss who is a Floyd fanatic. I already have my new iMac networked with the PC thanks to the help of this forum so I imagine it can't wouldn't be that difficult to get the recorded TV over to the iMac. My question is, should I go about burning the DVD in iMovie or iDVD (this will be my first time even thinking about using those pieces of iLife). Also, am I going to need to take a copyright off of it or anything like that? I really want to learn how to do this on the iMac. If it's too difficult I suppose I could burn in on the PC. Thanks for any help.

You don't mention what format the clip was in now, but you should be able to import it to iMovie.

iMovie is the package you'll start with-- that's the program that makes the movie itself. When the movie itself is done, iMovie will fire up iDVD which handles all the steps associated with building and burning the DVD.

Hope this helps.

I also have a media center pc. and if you recorded the concert with the media center software, you have for a bit of fun.

The format that the media software codes in, for a long time was unable to be converted to anything else, and it could only be run in Windows Media Player 10. Recently, however, 3rd party developers have been able to convert it. In it's standard format, it will not play in a DVD player (like a standard one hooked to a TV). However, converting it to another format would allow iMovie or iDVD to use it.

What you need to do, is search for a program that converts DVR-MS (the format the media center software records in) to something like MPEG or .MOV. This will allow the Mac to read it. Then, pop it into iMovie or iDVD, and hit burn. I think in this case iMovie might be easier for you to use.
