I'm coming back to a mac after about 15 years. What email service provider works best with a Mac to get the best experience? All of my everything is currently with Gmail.

There is nothing wrong with Gmail. It has excellent spam filters and fully supports the Apple Mail program that is built into OS X. I have both a PoP and IMAP Gmail account that I use for my Mac and iPhone.
