Help on increasing Memory in my iMac ...

I currently have two 512's in my memory slats. I can put a maximum 3 GB's in my iMac. So, I want to put a 1 GB in one slat and a 2 GB in the other. My question is - does it matter which slat I put the 2GB in? Front or back, left or right - where should it go? Thank you again for your help.

Could you provide the specs or even model number of your machine? It would help greatly!

Here's what I have:

I have a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The current memory is 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I am running Mac OS X Tiger v. 10.4.11. This is all being done on a 24" iMac.

You really aught to be installing matching RAM, the problem with this machine is that the maximum you can install is 3.0 GB (4.0 GB can be installed, only 3.0 GB will be addressed). If you can get a matching pair of 2GB sticks for cheaper than singularly buying a 1GB and a 2GB then do that. If not then no it does not matter which way you put them in the machine.
