shopping problems

Does anybody here could tell me if i can still buy an iPhone in apple stores? Some say that apple is on the way to bring up a new generation of iPhone so they dont sell iPhones anymore...Another question is: can i buy an iPhone in apple store without at&t service plan?

No you cant buy an iPhone anywhere except AT&T right now and yes you need a contract at AT&T.

I didn't realize that. I was just in an Apple store about 4-6 weeks ago and there were iPhones all over. Why do they not carry them at the store anymore?

Wow, so does that all but confirm 3G iPhones in a month? Or, at the very least, a new version of it. Or does it simply mean Apple will no longer sell iPhones directly any more? If anyone knows of or has some kind of statement from Apple about this, I'd like to see it.

Im pretty sure there getting ready to release a new version. I have no confirmation but why would apple just stop selling there product ?

I bought my phone less than 48 hours ago from AT&T directly although im a customer there.
