hi guys

I have the above iMac and I'm wondering on what GPU's I can upgrade to as I know my current card is premetal and won't run OSX Mojave

the unofficial way

thanks for any help

my current card is the following HD6770 512MB

so its not the best I don't mind if I only stay on Sierra but a better card would improve a few things im sure

thanks

Jason

I think the first thing you need to do is to see if the GPU can be removed and replaced. In other words, is it socketed? My guess is that it is surface soldered to the logic board.

You can find out by going to the US site: www.ifixit.com and look up your model and its take apart instructions.

Another suggestion go over to MacRumours.com as they have several threads on this under the iMac Forum.

I am almost 100% sure the 27" Late 2009 and 2010 Imacs have a GPU board in a slot. You have to disassemble the whole machine and take out the Logic board to slide out the GPU but that is what I have found both on IFixit and the few I have installed new Hard Drives in here.
