Can one Update from iLIfe '09 to iLife '11 running El Capitan 10.11.6

Subject kind of says it all. Looking to upgrade my imovie+ to my Macbook Pro. here's the stats on the machine:

OS X El Capitan
13 inch Mid, 2010
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
MAC SSD

Imovie is:

iMovie '09
Version 8.0.6 (821)

Would love to update the movie, keynote situation if possible...any thoughts?

Are they already installed on your Mac? If so, open the App Store, there will probably be updates, or you may even be offered the free upgrades.
