Hi,
I recently got a new iPad 6 (it's tiny) iOS 12.1.4 and Mail is working fine, but about 1/3 of the screen is taken up with the list of folders: in box, sent, etc. That doesn't leave much for the actual email. When I zoom the email so I can read it, it doesn't all fit, wide-wise. On my iPhone the list of folders disappears and I can read just the email. I can't find the place to change it like the iPhone or I can't see how to swipe or make the list of folders disappear.

I tried the Gmail app and it's even worse - so much of the screen taken up by the list.

I have read up but no one else seems to have his issue. This leads me to believe it's just an obvious setting somewhere that I am missing.

Any clues for me? Thanks.

Diane

I just checked my iPad (I have the 10.5" iPad Pro) to see if I have the same problem you're experiencing. My Mail folders appear on the left side of the screen under the title ("Mailboxes") which leaves a rather large area to open and read the mail on the right side.

I likewise could see no way to change how the mail and mail folders appear. However, I believe it adjusts itself according to the size of the screen which is why it acts differently on your iPhone.

How are you holding the iPad? Portrait or landscape? Have you tried the other way?

Good one Bob. I didn't think of mentioning that to Diane. That could be why she can't see the mail. I always use my iPad Pro in Landscape mode simply because I have the Apple keyboard attached at all times.

Ha! Yes, that's it indeed. Thanks, now I won't have to get new glasses yet! Just hold it like the iPhone and you get the iPhone configuration! I would never have thought of that also because of the the case/stand I use.

Thanks.
