How to find memory configuration

Hi,

I have an iMac10,1 late 2009 with 12 Gb of memory and want to upgrade to 16. How do I find which slots have have what memory without opening it up?

EG 3x4 or 2x4 +2x2.

Go to About this Mac -> System Report (button) -> Under Hardware click on Memory. That will show you all the banks and what is in them.
