I've been reading about VPN's lately, and thinking of using one. I bought Apple Server software awhile back, and remember that it does have VPN capabilities.

I haven't seen anything mentioned about Apple VPN, and I know that Apple has discontinued its server support. Anyone know if Apple's VPN is worthwhile?

TIA

For the VPN to be effective, you'll have to put the server on the Internet in an accessible manner which means having a 24x7 machine running taking up bandwidth.

Reading about VPNs is one thing, why do you want to run it? Assuming you DO want a VPN, you are better of choosing from one of the many providers out there that are either very cheap or fairly affordable.
