Can they not do the same update via Wi-Fi if they have wi-fi Internet access??

I believe some ISPs measure data from the WiFi signal they provide - so much per month. In actuality, there are two limits: One from your carrier, another from your ISP. I have unlimited data from both my carrier and my ISP which is an advantage when downloading large updates. A typical iOS update from Apple can be as much as 4GB.

I was thinking more of just using one's local wireless LAN, say the one in one's house that's using the ISP's wired connection and then the routers wireless connection.

I didn't think there was any such Wi-Fi/Bandwidth limitation using such a method.

Yes, Patrick, there are limitations from some ISP providers. Particularly in more rural areas where the ISP may well be a telephone company instead of a cable-TV or media company.

Of course. My brain was busy farting and not thinking. The total data amount has got to go through the pipe or the air regardless which route it uses. :Grimmace:

Thanks for the reality check,

Hey, Patrick, we all need that check. My wife makes sure I get at least one daily! :D
