I had to change my Apple id password because of security reasons, the process was simple enough but there was no warning that the change could lock you out of your purchases page? So I am now unable to download paid for Applications because my App store account purchases page doesn't recognise my new login details and tells me I haven't purchased anything yet!
I cannot use my old login on the App store because every time I log out and re-start in order to get the login box, the App store is re-loaded automatically so I never see the box to change the details?

Is there a way around this problem please?

Did you change the AppleID AND the password? What you are seeing seems to say that is what you did. If so, in fact what you did was create a new account, which would have no history of any purchases, so what you see is logical. Your purchases are logged against that old account and as far as I know, other than Family Sharing, there is no way to get them through the new account.

What version of macOS are you running? If it's current enough to be accessing the Mac App Store, then on the top bar when you enter the store is an option called "Store" where you can see what account is logged in and then if that is not what you want, sign out. At that point the "Store" menu will change to show a "Sign in" option which you can use to log in again with whatever AppleID/password you want..

Been there seen it and done it! I only changed the password not the ID e-mail address! Because of my original password problem I was left with no choice but to change the password, there was no warning about consequences. My iMac (where I bought the missing purchases) will not accept the old login details!
Have you any idea how I can contact Apple to try to get this resolved please?

Not sure I understand what happened to your account. I have changed my Apple ID password at least 3 times with no effect at all when logging in to the App Store or for purchases. I'm thinking like Jake that your Apple ID somehow has changed. That will definitely result in what you're experiencing.

I would have posted a phone number but you do not indicate where you are located. But this website will walk you through and help you find a live person to help.

I am in the UK Lisa.

chscag: Thinking back, in the early days when I first bought this iMac I may have had a different ID e-mail, but as far as I remember the present ID e-mail is the one I used to purchase everything from the App Store?

@Willabong

Just a late thought, if I may.

Is it possible that "in the early days when you bought this Mac", you had one email address for iTunes/App Store and another for iCloud?

I did!! - because I go back to the early days of [email protected] for Apple Store & iTunes AND [email protected] for iCloud.

In my case, each had a different password which got very confusing, not to say irritating. I still have both accounts, but made the PW the same for each (long & strong - 19 characters in fact). That made life much easier.

Could this be a factor in your case? In short, might you be confusing your App Store ID with your iCloud ID?

The link I posted provides contact points for where ever you are located. I have had to call them for people here at work because as the IT it is my problem when people mess up their apple id - or any logon problem they have. ;D

I have found the apple people to be most helpful.

Contacted them by e-mail and they replied within a couple of hours. They provided the information I needed to correct my old Apple ID and change the password (again).
This worked perfectly and I have now got access to my purchases!
So thank you to everyone who helped me to sort this problem, I am now a happy Bunny!:D
