SO I got Virtual Box going with Ubuntu. I t works ok but.....when you go to full screen you get a full VB screen but that is only 2/3 of the Mac Air screen. Its WAY
too small. It wont be of any use like that. Is there a way to get Virtual Box to use the FULL screen of the Mac AIr ?

also....when you shut down VB you get your full RAM back in Mojave, yes? I mean the RAM you allocated to VB is ONLY when VB is active...

Install the VB tools in Linux and then you will have access to the full resolution of the MBA and can then go full screen. And yes, when the VM isn't running, it isn't using the allocated memory.
