I'm compiling a book. Started in Open Office then converted to Word 2004, the version I have on my lap top. I want to insert black pages for illustrations but cannot work out how to do it. Inserting a page break twice leaves an indent in the first line of the text page I cannot remove. Later versions of Word have a Insert Blank page feature, but Word 2004 doesn't. Do I have to upgrade and in which version does the Insert Blank page feature begin. Thanks.

Hey there Riverbend...welcome.:)

That's a pretty old app you're using there (Word 2004). Hopefully someone still has it installed on one of their older computers...and can test things out. I would certainly think that an "insert page" feature would have been included in Word 2004.:)

Probably a good idea to upgrade to a newer version of Word (Mac Office). First we need to know which version of macOS you're running since all versions of Mac Office prior to Office 2016 are 32 bit and will not run in the next version of macOS (10.15.X).

I'm not familiar with Word 2004 but I believe inserting a blank page was an option in Word 2008. It's been years since I used Word 2008 so am not sure if it existed there. Word 2011 has it and subsequent versions also have that option.

It looks like an old query may have supplied an answer...

Does anyone of you have an idea how i can just enter a blank page..
(Using MS Word 2004)
Insert a page break

Otherwise, try this google search:
Mac MS "Word 2004" how to insert blank page
https://www.google.com/search?safe=.....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j35i304i39.j7Fn_fG93gU

If I recall, any "blank page" would appear as a series of dashes or something like it showing the start and maybe the end.

Sorry, but... Who really cares...??? Certainly not a user using MS Word 2004, that didn't even work after Yosemite AFAIK I would think.
Just because Apple will be dropping all support for 32-bit apps when running their next macOS Generation, doesn't mean all Mac OS users will stop using their Macs and any of their 32-bit applications.

I for one sure won't be joining them, or at the least, very very doubtful. :Smirk:

Ah Patrick, as usual you seem only to read what you wish. This is the reason I answered the OP the way I did:

I wanted to make sure if the OP upgraded Office that he was aware of the 32 bit restriction with versions of macOS subsequent to Mojave. Okay....?

Not really Charlie, and I guess it was a good thing to provide the heads up warning to the OP, but I dare say that would be quite an OS X upgrade leap, and maybe even a newer computer, for them to be able to get to the upcoming macOS 10.15.x, Plus a much later version of MS Word.

But I guess I was going a bit OT (off topic) regarding Apple's Mojave replacement macOS version.
