When you say "hidden" files ther are files which the OS does not let you see but they are not likely to be media files. They should be visible if you look in the right places.
Try opening a finder window (Command F) and searching in the search bar for visual media file types such as .mpeg or .avi or MPEG or MP4
like the example below.

As you can see at the bottom of the window there are 702 items.

Also its handy to show the File Path Bar at the bottom on your finder window.
Enable the Finder Path Bar

First, for those unfamiliar with Finder, the easiest way to see your current location in your Mac’s file structure is to enable the Path Bar in Finder’s view options. To do so, simply open a Finder window and go to View > Show Path Bar in the OS X menu bar. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Option-Command-P to quickly enable or disable the Finder Path Bar.

So when you find what you want to locate in the finder you can see at the bottom of the window exactly which folder and subfolder the file is in. You can even open the enclosing folders by clicking on them in the path bar.

Maybe they're just "lost" rather than "hidden".
