Well after all these years I'm getting a dedicated spot for my hobby woodworking and a place to get away.:) It's 22x26 not huge but not small either. Don't know how many of you folks are into woodworking but it is a very enjoyable hobby. Got hook in high school wood shop years ago. Will try to scale down the size of pictures to show if anyone is interested.

Open the images in Preview and choose Tools->Adjust Size and reduce the image there in pixels to about 1200x1200 and it can be uploaded.

Hi Kenny - I'm a long time woodworker and have a basement shop w/ a LOT of tools/equipment (except for a lathe - had enough to do!) - I've posted some of my projects before in various threads, but just for starters, my most recent project(s) were a pair of small nightstands for our son's old room (mahogany & oak) - need to just buy a bed - considering building the frame? Dave :)

Ashwin, thanks for that tip to reduce image size.

RadDav, beautiful work. I have had a ShopSmith for years among other power equipment but held on to the SS for it lathe function and it doesn't do a bad job at that either.

I am not a woodworker, but I have at least one thing my Dad made in every room of our house. He used the garage in the summer, then finally built another one dedicated to his hobby. I certainly have an appreciation for anyone who has that talent.

Woodworking can be very relaxing and at times drive you crazy. I've been blessed with the ability to use my hands and be able to read and do or build things. I by far am no expert but I have the pleasure to say I did that whether it's good or turned out bad because mistakes help you learn. Thanks for the compliment.

Hot tub already in Lanai (we call it a back porch when I lived up north). Just wood working stuff, beer frig and maybe motorcycle but hope the scooter can stay in other garage.

RadDave bringing in 200 amp service and yes I do have some extra heating but keeping it cool is probably more of an issue. Thinking about having the whole building done in spray insulation.

Wow! It's great. I'm a bit green with envy now. I had a workshop in the garage of our home in Australia but because we are there so seldom now my wife convinced me to convert it to a studio accommodation unit. Now it is almost constantly rented out which not only creates income but provides a measure of security while we are in Bali. But I do miss not having a place to lay out all my tools.
Just out of curiosity, what did you use for the sliders on the drawers of the bedside tables?

Looks like side mounted slide but RadDave will have to chime in, he built those great looking night stands. Once I get everything moved over I’ve got a list of stuff I’d like to build especially wood turning some bowls.

Hi Rod - I assume the above in bold is for me? Usually for small drawers, I do not usually use any hardware guides, as in the kitchen slide-out garbage bin I made years ago (bottom pic) - but, I had some hardware left over from a previous project and decided to use the side guides on the night stand drawers - took a couple of pics this morning for a better view - hope this helps. Dave :)

Yes, I’ve used those. Great design. I like how they support the drawers from underneath. I thought you might have used routed tracks given you used a hardwood.

Wow. I thought I might be the only person that had one of those in their basement/workshop.

Mine is one of the original older models that was used to make all kinds of stuff at the place I used to work, but I managed to rescue it from being thrown out onto the scrapheap about 30+ years ago. We didn't even recycle much in those days.

It sure is a compact, versatile power tool and I'm surprised that there is nothing like them being made these days that I'm aware of.

Well, another option, of course - I have a half dozen routers and could easily make that drawer side, but I've not done so yet - maybe a future project? Dave :)

Patrick, that's a beauty. It looks like the 10R model. Would love to have one too. I bought mine in early 80's. Here are some pics of shopsmith, radial arm and table saw with built in router table. Please pardon the mess, you can see why I need another garage from the pics.
