You’re quite correct.

Many of us are subscribers to OS X Daily and, yes, we get an email which contains a link to their website where you can read the content outlined in the email.

So I understand your confusion, but what you are reading and quoting is from their website. It is not an app and the email is a pointer to that website.

Subscribers to Macworld or to How to Geek or, indeed, to Mac Forums, get an email referring us to a website.
