- Your Mac's Specs
- 13" Mid-2012 MBA: OSX 10.15.2, 8GB, 2GHz i7
Hi All,
My iPad Mini 2 has become increasingly slow, laggy, and choppy with every passing software update. Loading web pages is slow, screen response is often slow (especially when trying to close tabs in Safari), downloads are very slow as well. Even opening apps is slow; sometimes it takes almost 10 seconds for Safari or Kindle to load and become useable. This also occurs when switching between apps; the app seems to reload, taking again 10 seconds or more.
I use it for only basic things: web browsing, watching YouTube, reading on Kindle app... that's literally IT. I use my Mac for anything more intensive than that.
I'm currently on 11.4.1. When I updated to this version, usability became so bad that I did a full factory reset, and deleted most all of my old apps and files of any kind from the device; I have 57.9 of 64GB available. The battery is predictably not as strong as it was from new, but will still give me a few hours of use on a charge.
I've turned off all iCloud functions, which seemed to help some.
There is no damage to the unit; it's been in it's case/cover since new, and has spent about 99% of it's life on my nightstand or coffee table.
My internet connection at home gives me 170Mb/s down and 15Mb/s up. I use the 5GHz channel on my router to minimize interference from other nearby networks.
Is it possible that my hardware is simply insufficient to happily use my device on iOS 11? That would be disappointing, as my 2012 MBA runs like it was brand new, on 10.13.6.
