Hello Mac-Forums Community. We have some terrific news to share regarding Mac-Forums. As many of you may recall…some time ago it was announced that Mac-Forums after approximately 15 years of operation would be shutting down. We are very pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to allow for the continued operation of Mac-Forums!!!:)

It's possible that we may experience some speed-bumps during this transition. If you or anyone you know is experiencing difficulties gaining access to the website…slow website performance...or that some features that used to work no longer seem to be working…please inform a Mac-Forums Staff member…or even better...post these issues in a soon to be created thread where we can gather this information & act on it.

We really really appreciate everyone in the Mac-Forums Community for all the expertise, experiences, opinions, questions, thoughts, and humor they have shared in the past…and continue to share in the future. Mac-Forums is our place to visit…where all of us strive to make it a fun, safe, mostly “Disney Clean”, and informative spot for folks from all over the world to join together & discuss many topic's of interest!

Sincerely,

The Mac-Forums Staff

Good to hear this. I had just gotten here and then I saw the older thread about it shutting down, so I'm glad to hear that it isn't.

Thanks Nick and of course the other Admins/Mods/etc who helped to keep this forum in operation - we are all appreciative - Dave :)

There can be no doubt that many of us are greatly relieved to find "our family" intact and hopefully facing a prosperous future. Thanks abound to Nick, Charlie and unnamed others who have tackled the complicated politics of negotiation with invisible "suits" who are always looking at the bottom line whilst failing to see the human aspect.

Nor should we forget the dedicated members who have invested their own money into buying and setting up the mac-forums domain in anticipation of a total closure of our Forums. They also worked hard for us and now have to accept that their efforts will come to nothing.

Ian

That is fantastic news and congratulations to all of you that have ploughed so much effort into keeping us informed. Plus all the effort that has gone into our back up forum.

I haven't been on here much just recently due to trying to sort out just where we will be living after our move back from France, but I have been looking in now and then.

Thank you for all of your hard work and effort guys!!!

Great news! Is there any way we can help with the expenses of starting the alternate site? The annual membership fees here have not been charged in a very long time. I'm sure some of us (me) could cough up a few bucks if it helped.

Glad to hear things worked out. Just curious though what the ‘transition’ is, did it move to another server (hence the dns issues for a few days)?

Congratulations to all and also it seems in keeping with the new owners and their philosophy of knowledge sharing that seems to all fit well together.

Many thanks to all concerned.

yay :)

just so I've got this straight in my head

- mac-forums.com (this site) is continuing absolutely unchanged

- all the old posts from mac-forums.com are retained

- mac-forums.org will not now be launching

is this about right????

Perhaps a JustGiving (or similar) page to offset the expenses incurred would enable those of us not in the US to contribute as a thank you.
